BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Mrs. Marie Damour were held from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church on Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, where the liturgy of Christian death and burial was offered by the Rev. Vincent Coppola, c.s.c., and the Rev. Michael A. Demasi, retired pastor of St. John the Baptist Church in North Bennington.

Organist was Donald McMahon and soloists were Peggy Damour, a great-niece, who sang “Here I Am Lord,” and Monica Murray, who sang “Be Not Afraid,” “Ave Maria” and “On Eagles’ Wings.”

The funeral pall that draped Mrs. Damour’s casket during the funeral Mass was placed by Julie and Paul Beaumont and John and Peggy Damour, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. A wooden cross was placed on the pall by Connie Kuhn. The scriptural readings were offered by Claire Mullins, a niece, and the offertory gifts were presented by Richard and Joan Damour, a nephew and niece. Words of remembrance were given by Darlene Young, a friend. Acolytes were Gerald Amadon, Leonard Anzivino, Bernard Bourgeois and Charles Gould.

Bearers were Richard and John Damour, Paul Beaumont and Larry Shutts. Honorary bearers from Court St. Andrew, Catholic Daughters of America, were Virginia Shea and Connie Kuhn, and Mary Francis Murphy, Catherine Murphy, Rita McCann and Geraldine Sausville.

A prayer service at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home preceded the funeral Mass.

During the visiting hours at the funeral home on Monday morning members of Court St. Andrew, Catholic Daughters of America, held a prayer service in Mrs, Damour’s memory.

Burial took place in the family lot in St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Rutland, where the committal prayers were offered by the Rev. Thomas Mattison, associate pastor of Christ the King Church in Rutland. In addition to the survivors mentioned, Mrs. Damour is also survived by a niece, Patricia Bratcher, and nephews, Gary, David and Joseph Dutelle; and many other nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Mrs. Damour was also predeceased by a niece, Donna Dutelle.

Mrs. Damour, a resident of Jennings Drive, Bennington, died at Rivers Edge Community Care Home.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
