BENNINGTON -- Marie F. Skoblow Dempsey, 87, widow of Robert Thomas Dempsey, a resident of Pleasant Street, Bennington, died Saturday, September 23, 2006 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center following a brief illness.

Born in Queens, Astoria, L.I., NY on January 18, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Marie (Colavolpe) Carlomango.

She received her education in the Astoria schools.

Mr. Dempsey died May 31, 1983.

In earlier years Mrs. Dempsey was employed at EZ Mill, Union Carbide Corporation, Bijur Lubricating and also Tansitor Electronics, from which she retired. Dempsey was a member of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church.

She enjoyed knitting in her free time.

Survivors include a son, Allan R. Skoblow of Atlantic Beach, Florida; a very close friend, Shirley Nolin of Bennington; her former daughter-in-law,Kathleen Skoblow of Neptune Beach, Florida; two granddaughters, Lisa Davis and husband Ricky of Bennington and Marybeth Smits of Ponte Vedra, Florida; three great-grandchildren, Joseph Martin and Heaven Millar of Bennington and Ashley Smits of Ponte Vedra. Mrs. Dempsey was predeceased by a great-grandson, Allan Smits and by two brothers, Joseph Carlo and Frank Carlomango.

Memorial services celebrating the life of Marie Dempsey will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Tuesday, September 26, 2006 at 3 p.m.

There will be no calling hours.
