WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Marie Irene (Tatro) King, 67, of Bachand Avenue, Williamstown, and former longtime resident of Hall Street, Williamstown, died Friday, May 20, 2005, at the Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.

She was born in Sandwich East, Canada on June 8, 1937, a daughter of Laurentia (Barrette) Tatro and the late Moses Tatro.

She attended schools in Canada and moved to Williamstown as a child and attended schools in Williamstown.

She was employed at the former Howard Johnson Restaurant in Williamstown as a waitress. She also was employed at Leo’s Variety Store on Cole Ave. in Williamstown. She then worked at the former Village Restaurant in Williamstown as a waitress and at the Cozy Corner Restaurant in Williamstown as a cook. But her greatest accomplishment was being a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

She was a longtime communicant of St. Raphael’s Church in Williamstown and she was an accomplished musician and would entertain the residents at several local nursing homes.

Survivors include her mother, Laurentia (Barrette) Tatro of Williamstown; her husband of 48 years, Leon N. King Sr., whom she married Nov. 3, 1956 in St. Raphael’s Church, Williamstown; two daughters, Suzanne M. Hescock and her husband Ricky of Wilmington, Vt. and Sharon C. Michalenko and her husband Lawrence of Savoy; two sons, Leon N. King Jr. and his wife Mary Ann of North Adams, and John J. King and his wife Karen of Dover, Del.; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Gerald Tatro of Williamstown; one sister, Agnes Hanson of Williamstown; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

She was predeceased by a sister, Lorraine Tatro.

Funeral services for Marie Irene (Tatro) King will take place Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. at the Flynn & Dagnoli-Montagna Home for Funerals, West Chapels, 521 West Main St., North Adams, followed by a liturgy of Christian death and burial at St. Raphael’s Church at 10 a.m.

Burial will follow in Southlawn Cemetery, Williamstown.

Calling hours at the funeral home are Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations are suggested in her memory through the funeral home.
