Marie Jeanette Loretta Blake Obituary
Marie Jeanette Loretta Blake, age 77, a resident of Middle Pownal Road in Bennington, died on Sunday, February 16, at the River's Edge Community Care Home in Bennington following a brief illness.
She was born on November 20, 1936 and was the daughter of the late Joseph Euclid and Aurore (Chale) Godin. She received her education in local schools and is a graduate of Bennington High School.
She married Donald E. Blake on April 27, 1958 at St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington. Mr. Blake died on September 26, 1998.
For twenty two years she was employed at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington as the manager of the laundry department. She loved helping others, visiting with family and friends, drinking coffee, playing cards, dice and scratch off tickets.
Survivors include her son Scott and his fiancé Barbara Weber of Pownal, her grandson Josh Blake and his girlfriend Ky, and her step-grandson Michael Weber. She leaves one sister, Bertha Jones and her husband Perry of Florida. Loretta leaves her foster children as well; Katrina Driscoll, Wayne Porier, Andy Veach and several others from over the years. She also leaves her good friends; Kathy Davis, Joan Knapp, Bob Hamilton, John Murphy, many nieces and nephews and Oreo, the long haired Chihuahua
Loretta is predeceased by two sisters; Ruth Latulip, and Marguerite "Peggy" Cornell and her brother, Noal Godin and her good friend Francis "Red" LaCroix.
FUNERAL NOTICE: Graveside services will be held on Friday afternoon, February 21, at Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington at 2:00 PM.
There are no calling hours scheduled.
