Marie Louise VanSlyke 1922 - 2009 BENNINGTON, VT Marie Louise VanSlyke, 87, formerly of Little Falls, N.Y., and a resident of the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning April 7, at the Vermont Veterans Home. Marie was born in Daytona Beach, Fla., on March 15, 1922, daughter of James Harwood and Emma Winchell Dennison and attended local schools. Marie graduated from Dolgeville, New York High School, class of 1939, the School of Modern Photography in 1947 and from Lewis Hotel Training School in Washington, D.C. class of 1966. She was a member of the Army serving in the Woman's Air Corp during World War II. Marie was an Artisan and very skilled at her craft of making handmade fishing poles. She also loved to go fishing, was very passionate about photography, liked traveling and cherished times spent with her family especially her grandchildren. Marie leaves her children Robert VanSlyke and his wife Kathy of Providence, Utah, and Donna Lehman of Florida, her grandchildren Mika, Justin, Emma and Heidi, her great-grandchildren Meaha and Kai, her niece Alice Spencer of Bennington who along with the Vermont Veterans Home cared for her over several years, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband Bernard VanSlyke who died in 1968. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services for Marie will be held Saturday morning April 11, 2009 at 1 p.m. at CHAPMAN-MOSER FUNERAL HOME 42 North Ann Street, Little Falls, New York. The Rev. Dr. Steven A. Scarcia, Rector of Emmanuel Episcopal Church will conduct the service. Interment will follow in the family lot in Rural Park Cemetery in Inghams Mills, NY. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be held Saturday morning April 11, 2009 from 11 to 1, two hours prior to the service when the family will be in attendance.
