Obituary Condolences

ARLINGTON -- The Liturgy for the burial of the dead for Marie M. Mattison was celebrated from St. James Episcopal Church on Tuesday afternoon with the Rev. Bradford Clark, rector, officiating.

Marie’s nephew Donald Crofut served as crucifer and chalice bearer. Granddaughters Debbie Angel, Colleen Benoit, Denise Mann, Carol Cook and Leslie Daly placed the pall and floral piece upon the casket. Organist Laura Woodward provided music for the service, accompanying the congregation in singing “Morning Has Broken” and “A Mighty Fortress.” Soloist Lindsay Dyett sang “I Believe,” “The Strife is Over,” “The King of Love My Shepard Is,” “Now Thank We All our God” and “God Be in My Head.” Father Clark offered the homily and personal reflections. Nephew Donald Crofut delivered the eulogy. Grandson John Daly shared remembrances. Donna Vince and Joanne Bovee presented the offertory gifts to the altar.

Burial with committal prayers followed in the family lot in Evergreen Cemetery with Father Clark presiding. John Daly, Leigh Angel, Jason Daly, Tim Lane, Jeff Mann, Spencer Mann, Fran DeMarsico and Leo Budro served as bearers.

A reception was held in Memorial Hall hosted by the Women of St. James.

Mrs. Mattison, a longtime resident of Arlington, died July 27 at Rivers Edge Community Care Home in Bennington at the age of 95.

Arrangements were under the care of the Arlington Chapel of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home.
