Marilyn Sammet Bona Barriere 1945 - 2008 NORTH BENNINGTON Marilyn Sammet Bona Barriere, 62, of North Bennington, Vt., passed away on Aug. 6, 2008, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Born on Oct. 23, 1945 in New London, Conn., daughter of Robert Sammet and Margaret Sammet, she graduated from Pittsfield High in Pittsfield, Mass., and attended Smith College in Amherst, Mass. Marilyn recently worked for Neurologist Dr. Joseph Kratzer of Bennington as an office manager. Marilyn was an avid traveler, especially to Mexico. She loved country singer Willie Nelson, who was also a longtime family friend, and attended many of his concerts over the years. She and her husband enjoyed antiques and attending auctions. She spent her summers with her family at their cabin in White Creek, N.Y. She had a vast collection of dolls, her favorite being Scarlett O'Hara. She leaves her husband, Bernard Barriere Jr., together 42 years; a son, John Bona of Great Barrington, Mass.; a son, Daniel Bona Jr. of Otis, Mass; a daughter, Elizabeth Barnhill of Petersburgh, N.Y.; a son Bernard Barriere III of Binghamton, N.Y.; a stepdaughter, Colleen Fleck of Malvern, Pa.; two brothers, Michael Powers of Bennington, Vt., and William Powers of Pittsfield, Mass.; seven grandchildren, Jazmine Alibozek, Emilyn Bona, Maggie Bona, Blake and Maxx Barnhill, and Nolan and Kyle Fleck. FUNERAL NOTICE: A Funeral Mass for Marilyn will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church in North Bennington. Interment will follow in the family lot in Pittsfield Cemetery in Pittsfield, Mass. Visiting hours for Marilyn will be Friday, Aug. 8 from 4 to 8 p.m. at HANSON-WALBRIDGE FUNERAL HOME, 213 West Main St., Bennington, Vt., when the family will be in attendance.
