Marilyn Dyer Moffit 1940 - 2011 BENNINGTON Marilyn E. Dyer Moffitt, 71, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 12, 2011, at her home. Born in Portsmouth, N.H., on June 11, 1940, the daughter of George E. and Dorothy C. Thompson Ricker Sr., Mrs. Moffitt was raised in the Puddledock area of Portsmouth. She had worked at the former Ben Mont Company until their closing. She then worked at Tansitor Electronics, now Vishay, until she retired at age 65. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, reading, and communicating with friends and family through the internet. She especially enjoyed the times she had with her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Moffitt was married to John W. Dyer in November, 1957, who died July 27, 2003. She leaves her sons, John L. Dyer Sr., and wife, Melissa, of Bennington, William G. Dyer and wife, Deb, of Abington, Md., and Dale T. Dyer of Keene, N.H.; sisters, Nathalie Ball of Newington, N.H., and Dorothy Reynolds of Seymour, Ind.; grandchildren, John L. Dyer Jr. and wife, Heather, of Rutland, Corey R. Dyer of Pownal, Mathew A. Morris of Bennington, Ryan M. Bushee of Bennington, Benjamin Dyer of Hawaii, Abigail Dyer of Keene, N.H., and Jackson Dyer of Abington, Md.; great-grandchildren, Bryce D. Dyer, Bailey T. Dyer and Samuel Z. Dyer, all of Rutland, and Peyton D. Morris of Bennington. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a daughter, Gail E. Dyer who died March 15, 1965; by grandson, Robert Thomas Dyer in 1999 and by brother, George Ricker. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be Saturday, July 16 at 1 p.m. at the HANSON-WALBRIDGE FUNERAL HOME. Burial will follow in the Park Lawn Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. when the family will be present.
