Marion G. Batchelder 1920-2012 MANCHESTER CENTER Marion G. Batchelder, 91, formerly of Mountain View Terrace in Manchester Center, Vermont, passed away Friday March 9, 2012 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington, Vt., surrounded by her family. Marion was born on August 8, 1920 in Manchester Center, Vt., the daughter of Joseph and Delerosa (Moscatiello) Grasso. She received her education in Manchester schools, graduating from Burr & Burton Seminary. She went to work at the Factory Point Bank, in many capacities, retiring after over forty years of service. She was an avid golfer and won numerous tournaments, including being the club champion at Equinox Country Club. She was most proud of a mile stone birth day turning 88 on 8-08-08. "Grams" as she was affectionately known by her family, gave her love and devotion to her entire family. She gave us all great memories and always made every holiday a special event. Marion is survived by her daughter, Sue (Henry) Ashton of Queensbury, N.Y., her grandchildren, Cheryl Whitbread and her husband Scott of California, Jill Burkett of Wallingford, Vt., Brett Batchelder of Colorado, Nicole Bain of Glens Falls, N.Y., Holly Batchelder of Manchester Center, and Catherine (Yuval) Beton of Connecticut, her great grandchildren, Ethan and Chloe Burkett of Wallingford, Vermont and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband John S, Batchelder, Jr. whom she married July 20, 1938. Mr. Batchelder passed away April 13, 1989. She was also preceded in death by her son John S. "Jack" Batchelder, III, brothers, Anthony Lombardy, Frank Lombardy, Louis Lombardy and John Lombardy and her sisters, Mary Heaslip, Phyllis Byrne and Polly MacKenzie. FUNERAL NOTICE: The liturgy of Christian death and burial for Marion will be celebrated Wednesday morning March 14, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Christ Our Savior Parish (St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church) in Manchester. Interment will follow in the family lot in Dellwood Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday evening March 13, 2012 from 6 to 8 p.m., at Brewster Funeral Service 34 Park Place Manchester Center, Vermont, when the family will be in attendance.
