Obituary Condolences

SHAFTSBURY -- Funeral services for Marion W. Becker were held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Saturday, Jan. 6, 2007, where the burial office was offered by the Rev. Anita Schell-Lambert, rector of St. Peters Episcopal Church.

Hymns offered during the service were “How Great Thou Art” and “Amazing Grace.” A favorite song of Mrs. Becker’s, “May I Have This Dance,” was also played during the service. Words of remembrance were offered by Brian Wade.

Bearers were a nephew, Brian Wade, two great-nephews, B.J. Wade and Josh Longtin and three family friends, Jesse Reed, Ronald Lindsey and Joseph Vadakin.

Forming an honor guard during the funeral services were members of the Shaftsbury Fire Department. Mrs. Becker was a charter member and past president of the Shaftsbury Fire Department Auxiliary. Paying respects to the family on Friday evening at the funeral home were several members from fire departments throughout Vermont. Also conducting services Friday evening were members of Taconic Grange and Pomona Grange, where Mrs. Becker had been a long time member and past officer.

Burial took place in the family lot in Center Shaftsbury with Mother Anita Shell-Lambert offering the committal prayers. The funeral procession was led to the cemetery by a Shaftsbury Fire Department fire truck.

Mrs. Becker, wife of Charles O. Becker, a resident of Ledgely Drive, Shaftsbury, died Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2007, at her residence.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home.
