Marjorie S. Chapman 1919 - 2012 DORSET, VT Marjorie Snare Chapman died March 17, 2012, at her home in Dorset. She died in peace at age 92, surrounded by her closest family. Her mother was the late Edith Dulles Snare of Dorset and her father the late Frederick Snare Jr. of Englewood, NJ. She is survived by her sister, Dorothy S. Warner of Dorset, her brother, William D. Snare of Colorado Springs, CO and by four children, Philip X. Chapman of Rupert, Daniel Weeks of Rockbridge Baths, VA, Susan R Chapman of Dorset and Averill, and Peter S. Chapman of Telluride, CO. She also has two grandchildren, Veronica Waters of Charlottesville, VA and Zachary Chapman of South Orange, NJ, as well as five great-grandchildren. A fifth child, Geoffrey Chapman II., died in 1984. Marjorie was born in New York City on Dec 10, 1919. She attended Dana Hall School in Wellesley, MA, graduated from Spence School in New York City and studied at the New York School of Fine and Applied Arts. She moved to Dorset in 1965, where she worked as a real estate broker at Snare Associates, was an active member of the Dorset Field Club and contributed time as an advocate at the Bennington County family court. Most of her summer time was spent at the Snare family home on Averill Lake in the Northeast Kingdom. MEMORIAL NOTICE: A private family remembrance service will be announced at a later date.
