Marjorie Jeanne Haley 1920-2011 BENNINGTON Marjorie Jeanne Haley, 90, widow of Thomas R. Haley Sr., a longtime resident of Gage Street, died peacefully on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington surrounded by her family. Born in South Bend, Indiana August 1, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Helen McGurn Galipeau. She received her education in Bennington and was a graduate of Bennington High School. Tom and Jeanne were married at St. Francis de Sales Church in Bennington on September 28, 1940. Tom died November 27, 1996. In earlier years Jeanne was employed in the office of William H. Eddington Chevrolet Cadillac and later as the manager of the S & H Green Stamp store. For many years prior to her retirement Jeanne was employed at the E. L. Nichols store in Bennington. Jeanne enjoyed reading, visiting with her friends and especially time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The Haley family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the entire staff at both Centers for Living and Rehabilitation and both West Wing and East Wing at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center for their outstanding care and kindness over the past several weeks. Survivors include her children, Mary Jean Watters of Bennington, Kathleen Frick of Keene, N.H., Sharon Galipeau of Westford, Mass., and Thomas R. Haley Jr. of Bennington; eleven grandchildren, William Bratcher Jr., Heidi McKenney, Aaron and Jill Frick, Christian, Candace, John and Kevin Galipeau, Thomas R. Haley III, Keenan and Meghan Haley, seventeen great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Haley was predeceased by a son, John L. Haley who died in 1971 and by a sister, Nancy Sprague. FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church on Monday, March 14, 2011 at 11 a.m. where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be offered. There will be no calling hours. Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery. Should friends desire contributions in Mrs. Haley's memory may be made to the Bennington Coalition for the Homeless through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
