FORT EDWARD, N.Y. -- Mark E. Rice Jr., 87, of Bluebird Road, died Thursday, May 3, 2007, at the Glens Falls Hospital.

Born on April 18, 1920, in South Shaftsbury, Vt., he was the son of the late Mark E. and Myrtle (Bouplin) Rice.

Mark was a WWII Army veteran serving in the Luzon campaign in the Philippines and was the recipient of the Bronze Star. Shortly after the service, Mark began dairy farming in Bennington, Vt., then Greenwich before retiring to Fort Edward. He enjoyed his farm, hunting and fishing.

On Jan 18, 1947, Mark married Lydia R. Jackson in North Adams, Mass.

Besides his parents, a sister, Ruth Thomas, and brothers, Harley, Edwin, Carl, Floyd “Bill” and Harold Rice and a granddaughter, Amiee Lambert, all predeceased him.

Survivors besides his wife of 60 years include his children, Donald Rice and his wife, Norma, of Ballston Spa, Stephen Rice and his wife, Louann, of Queensbury, David Rice and his wife, Bambi, of Glens Falls, Susan Lambert and her husband, Louis, of South Glens Falls; a sister, Kathleen Bishop, of Florida; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Services will be conducted 2 p.m. Saturday, May 5, 2007, at the funeral home with the Regina Haag, of the Adirondack Friends Meeting, South Glens Falls, officiating.

Burial will follow in Greenwich Cemetery, Greenwich, N.Y.

Memorial donations may be made in Mark’s memory to the charity of one’s choice.
