Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Mark Francis Burke, 50, a resident of Center Street in Bennington, died peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007, at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation surrounded by his family following a three-year courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Hewas born in Bennington on Feb. 9, 1957. He was the son of the late Joseph G. Burke and Irene E. (Hoyt) Burke who survives. He received his education in Arlington and was a 1974 graduate of Arlington Memorial High School. He later graduated from Saint Michael’s College in Winooski with a bachelor’s degree in English literature.

Mark had been employed at National Hanger in North Bennington.

He married the former Kimberly Ann Morgan in 1999 at Saint Francis de Sales Church in Bennington.

Mark’s music was his passion. Over the years he had played in several local bands and had written and recorded many songs. Mark enjoyed playing golf and his greatest joy was spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include his wife, Kimberly Burke of Bennington; a daughter, Lacey Ivey of Sterling Heights, Mich., a step daughter Melissa Prendergast of Bennington, two stepsons Brian Prendergast of Temecula, Calif., and Erik Rhebb of Bennington, his mother Irene Burke of Shaftsbury, five grandchildren Alex Brown and Austin Prendergast both of Bennington, Trevor and Edgar Ivey of Sterling Heights, Michigan and Jayden Prendergast of Temecula, Calif., three brothers Jon Burke of Santa Anna, Calif., Patrick Burke of Jericho, and David Burke of Shaftsbury, two sisters Rosemary Cooke of Charlotte, N.C., and Priscilla Favreau of Bennington, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by two very close friends, Linda Allard and Tim Blakeney, both of Bennington.

The funeral will be held from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Saturday, Dec. 29, 2007, at 11 a.m.

Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Friday, Dec. 28, 2007, from 5 to 8 p.m.

The burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.
