1951 - 2016 Mark W. Snyder died peacefully at home in New Smyrna Beach, Florida on June 3rd after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was a long-time resident of Bennington, Vermont. He was born on April 19, 1951 in Adams, Massachusetts to Walter Snyder (deceased) and Mary Rose West Snyder of San Antonio, Texas. Mark was married for 45 years to his high school sweetheart and soul mate, the former Diane DiLorenzo of North Adams, Massachusetts. He leaves three sons: Mark Snyder of North Bennington, Vermont, Eric Snyder of Indian Trail, North Carolina, and Matthew Snyder of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; eight grandchildren: Kayla Vosburgh and Alyssa Snyder of Bennington, Vermont; Grace and Paige Snyder of North Bennington, Vermont, Trace, Brock and Raleigh Snyder of Indian Trail, North Carolina and Jacob Snyder of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; and one great-granddaughter, Aria Elwell of Bennington, Vermont. He leaves a sister, Mary Bassette, of Austin, Texas and his brother, Paul Snyder of Adams, Massachusetts. He graduated from McCann High School in 1969 and was employed at General Electric in Pittsfield, Massachusetts for many years as a skilled machinist. Mark served in the United States Army, was a Veteran of the Vietnam War and a member of the National Guard in Adams, being honorably discharged in 1977. He was a plant manager at Butkin Precision in North Adams, Massachusetts. He also worked at the Watervliet Arsenal in Troy, New York; UST in Bennington, Vermont and Lovejoy-Chaplet in Hoosick Falls, New York. He volunteered with the Bennington Little League for many years and enjoyed taking his sons skiing at Brodie Mountain and Prospect Mountain. Mark enjoyed family vacations in Maine and could always be seen around Bennington with his beloved yellow lab, Bailey. His wife and family were his passion and he is sadly missed. Cremation services were held at Settle-Wilder in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.
