HOOSICK FALLS, N.Y. -- Mrs. Martha “Marti” Joly, 37, a resident of Carey Avenue, died Wednesday Oct. 6, 2004, at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Bennington, Vt. Jan. 13, 1967. She was the daughter of Laurence Bump and the late Joan (Sauer) Bump. She received her education in Hoosick Falls and was a 1985 graduate of Hoosick Falls Central School.

Marti married William J. Joly on Aug. 3, 2002 in Hoosick Falls.

She was employed as a cook at the Williams Inn. Marti also had worked at Mickeys Pizza in Bennington and the Short Stop Deli, and for the last five years was employed as an apartment manager for BROC.

She recently won a trip to watch the New York Yankees play by raising the most money for Big Brothers and Big Sisters. Marti enjoyed playing softball in the Miss Softball League in Hoosick Falls. She loved pets, especially her dogs and cats. Marti and Bill recently bought a home in Hoosick Falls, where she enjoyed working around the house and doing landscaping.

Survivors include her husband, William J. Joly of Hoosick Falls; a daughter, Joan “Joni” Wells of Hoosick Falls; two stepsons, William Joly II of Pownal, Vt. and Richie L. Joly of Jamestown; two grandchildren, Billy and Alyisa Joly, of Pownal; her father and stepmother, Laurence and Mary Bump of Orange City, Fla.; three sisters, Terri Bump-Stackman of Memphis, Tenn., Tina Luke of Cambridge and Judy Wright of Las Vegas, Nev.; a brother, Laurence Bump Jr. of Pleasanton, Calif.; her mother-in-law, Ruth Joly, of Pownal; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Charles and Dorothy Sauer, and her paternal grandparents, Noyes and Lydia Bump.

The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Saturday, Oct. 9, at 10 a.m., with the Rev. Michael Demasi officiating.

The burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., when the family will be in attendance.
