Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Martha L. Tripp, 86, a longtime resident of North Branch Street, died Tuesday, Aug. 9, 2005, at Centers For Living and Rehabilitation following a brief illness.

Born in Tipton, Kan., Sept. 5, 1918, she was the daughter of the late Philip and Katherine (Kohn) Gasper. She received her education in the Tipton schools.

Mrs. Tripp was employed at the Union Carbide company in Bennington for many years until her retirement in 1985. She had also been employed for several years as a waitress at the former Red Barn restaurant in Shaftsbury.

Mrs. Tripp was a member of Sacred Heart St. Francis de Church and had been a member of the former Altar Rosary Society at the church. She was also active in both AARP and the Bennington Senior Citizens and enjoyed gardening and crocheting.

Survivors include two children and their spouses, Rosanne Beauchamp and her husband Richard of Richmond, Mass., and Eugene Tripp and his wife Leona of Newport, R.I.; two grandchildren, Lance Beauchamp of Pittsfield, Mass., and Tania Powers and her husband Dean of Enfield, Conn.; three great-grandchildren, Mitchell Beauchamp, Opal and Jarred Powers; a son-in-law, Anthony Zukowsky of Windsor Locks, Conn.; her faithful cat, Freckles; and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and cousins. Mrs. Tripp was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Zukowsky who died Sept. 11, 2004, her former husband, Earl F. Tripp, and eight brothers and sisters.

The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Friday, Aug. 12, 2005, at 12:30 p.m. with a prayer and from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church at 1 p.m. where the liturgy of Christian death and burial will be offered.

Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.

Burial will take place in the family lot at White Chapel Cemetery in Bennington
