Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- The burial office with committal for Martha P. Berry was held from St. Peter’s Episcopal Church on Saturday morning, Nov. 13. Officiating was the Rev. Canon Robert J. Miner, assisting was church deacon the Rev. Penny Hawkins and the crucifer was Emily Kennedy. The pall was placed upon Mrs. Berry’s casket by her twin granddaughters Sharron Kaiser and Laura Kaiser.

The testament readings were given by grandson William Berry Kaiser and Berkley Johnson. Music was under the direction of organist Randall Krum, soloists were Gary Whiting and Penny Hawkins and special musical selections included “The Strife is O’er,” “On Eagles’ Wings,” “Holy, Holy, Holy Lord” and “Jesus Lamb of God.” The oblation bearers were Marion Cutler and Ethel Pratt. Words of thanks and remembrances were offered by a daughter, Kathleen Kaiser, and her family and the congregation joined her in reciting a favorite family medley, with the second verse being recited by Father Miner. Ushers for the service were Colleen Gates and Ted Doucette. Serving as bearers were a son-in-law, Arthur Kaiser, Michael Hayes, Edward Haddad, Art Lussier, Wynn Metcalfe and Donald Swankey. A time of fellowship and refreshment, hosted by the ladies of the church, preceded the burial in Park Lawn Cemetery, where committal services were offered by Father Miner.

Mrs. Berry, 83, a resident of Old Bennington, died Wednesday morning, Nov. 10, 2004, at her home.

Arrangements were under the care of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home.
