NORTH BENNINGTON -- Mary A. Mosher, 84, a resident of Prospect Street, died suddenly Thursday, Sept. 30, 2004, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Born in Bennington July 21, 1920, she was the daughter of the late James Edwin and Mary (Horton) Mosher. She received her education in North Bennington and was a graduate of the former North Bennington High School. She later attended business college in Rhode Island.

For 44 years, Mary was employed in the banking business in North Bennington. She began her career on May 1, 1941 at the First National Bank of North Bennington and continued there when the bank became Catamount National Bank and later when Catamount merged with Merchants Bank in 1980. Mary retired from the bank on Jan. 4, 1985. Over Mary’s lengthy career, she served in many different positions at the bank.

A devout member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington, Mary also served as a eucharistic minister and was a member of the Sodality at St. John’s.

She had also served as treasurer of the McCullough Library in North Bennington for several years.

Although Mary never had any children, she played a large role in the lives of her two nephews and their families and they will dearly miss Aunt Mary.

Survivors include two nephews and their wives, Jonathan R. and Bonnie Dwyer of San Ramon, Calif. and Mark H. and Laurie Dwyer of Harrisonburg, Va.; her grand-nieces and nephews, Tyler and Tonya Dwyer, Carrie and Drew Bienkowski, Kelly and Jeff Nolte, Rick and Cathy Dwyer, Michael Dwyer and Lisa Dwyer; and seven great-grand-nieces and nephews. Mary was also especially close to her very best friends, Betty Hayes and Jean Kenyon, both of North Bennington. She was predeceased by a sister and brother-in-law, Elizabeth and Richard H. Dwyer.

The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Saturday, Oct. 2, at 10:15 a.m., with a prayer and at 11 a.m. from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington, where the liturgy of Christian death and burial will be offered.

Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Friday from 6 to 8 p.m., when the family will be in attendance. The wake service will be offered Friday evening.

Burial will take place in the family lot in St. John’s Cemetery, North Bennington.
