RUTLAND -- Sister Mary Ancilla Gallipeau, 83, (Madeline) beloved member of the Sisters of St. Joseph for 65 years, died on Jan. 23, 2005, in Rutland.

She was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of Walter and Agnes (Pidgeon) Gallipeau.

Sister entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Rutland from St. Peters Parish in Rutland. She graduated from Mt. St. Joseph Academy, Rutland, and Mt. St. Joseph Normal College and Trinity College, Burlington. She became a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Springfield when the two communities merged in 2001.

Sister taught in St. Peter’s School, Christ the King School and Mt. St. Joseph Academy all in Rutland, St. Michael’s School, Brattleboro, and Sacred Heart School and Bennington Catholic High School, Bennington.

In addition to her sisters in community, she is survived by her sister, Kathleen Jones of Brentwood, N.H. and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2005, at 2 p.m. at Mt. St. Joseph Convent Chapel in Rutland.

Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Rutland.

Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Mt. St. Joseph Convent Chapel, with a prayer service at 10:30 a.m.

Arrangements are under the direction of Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.
