Arlington, VT - Mary Ann L. Schaefer, 70, a resident of Berwal Road in Arlington, passed away April 13, 2017 at her home surrounded by her family.

Mary Ann was born in Hillsdale, NJ on September 11, 1946 the daughter of the late Charles Greve and Louise Phelan and attended local schools.

Mary Ann was a special education teacher for over 20 years and upon retiring in 2007, Mary Ann was a significant volunteer in the Arlington area which included volunteering at the Arlington Food Shelf, the Arlington Christmas Project and the Consignment Clothes Shop.

She enjoyed traveling, baking, crafts and was an avid reader. She was a member of the Book Club, the Garden Club and was on the Nursing Association Board and the Arlington Community House Board.

Mary Ann is survived by her husband Donald G. Schaefer of Arlington, son Donald Robert Schaefer and his wife Caroline of Norton, MA, daughter Kimberly Schaefer of Brooklyn, NY, her aunt Phyllis Schramm of Park Ridge, NJ, grandson Oliver Schaefer and nieces, nephews and cousins.

SERVICES: A celebration of the life of Mary Ann L. Schaefer will be held Wednesday April 19, 2017 at 11am at Hanson-Walbridge & Shea Funeral Home Arlington Chapel Historic Route 7A Arlington, VT. Rev. Kathleen Clark of the Federated Church of East Arlington will officiate. Interment will be private. Visiting hours at the funeral home will be held Tuesday evening April 18, 2017 from 5-7pm when the family will be in attendance.
