Mary E. Arnold

1936-2010 EAST ARLINGTON Mrs. Mary E. Arnold, 74, a resident of East Arlington Road, died peacefully Thursday morning, April 8, 2010, at Centers For Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington, where she had recently become a patient.

Born in White Creek, N.Y., on Mar. 25, 1936, daughter of the late Foster F. and Anna Ennis Thayer, she grew up in the Arlington area and attended the old Chiselville Schoolhouse.

In earlier years she had worked at the former Polygraphic Company in North Bennington, the Candle Mill on Ben Mont Avenue in Bennington, and for 25 years at Arlington Industries. She retired in 2004, and has enjoyed the companionship of her dog, Merlin, since then.

She was a member of the Federated Church of East Arlington.

Mrs. Arnold loved baseball and was a lifelong fan of the Atlanta Braves. She also enjoyed watching old westerns, playing cards and reading. She enjoyed the company of her grandchildren. She will be missed by all those who came to know her, especially the many good friends she has made throughout the years.

She leaves her sons, Tim Arnold of Lapeer, Mich., and Rick Bolster of Arlington; daughters, Pat Inskeep of East Arlington, and Sharon Allaire of Arlington; sister, Dorothy Fischer of East Arlington; grandchildren, Jennifer Lake, Robert Richter, Valarie Coulter, Vanessa Loomis, Ethan Arnold, Nicole Allaire, Christopher Eaton and Truman "Chip" Eaton Jr.; great-grandchildren, Shanna Lake, Areil Lake, Josh Richter, Alysa Richter and Emma Skye Eaton, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a tremendous amount of friends.

She was predeceased by her husband, Harold E. Arnold, who died Mar. 23, 1968; brothers, Foster Thayer Jr. and Robert James Thayer; sisters, Hazel McCauney and Rita DeCicco.

FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Apr. 13, at 1 p.m. at the ARLINGTON CHAPEL OF THE HANSON-WALBRIDGE FUNERAL HOME. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. when the family will be present. Burial will be private in the Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington.
