1915-2015 WHITE CREEK, NYMary E. Austin, 100, widow of Harold Austin, a resident of Murphy Lane, White Creek, NY died peacefully Sunday, July 12, 2015 at the Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Hoosick Falls, NY surrounded by her family. Born at the family farm in White Creek, NY on June 28, 1915, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Julia (Leonard) Murphy. She received her education in the one room school house in White Creek. Mary and Harold were married April 21, 1954 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in North Bennington. Harold died June 8, 1987. Mary was a lifelong parishioner at St. John's church. Her favorite pastime was time spent with her grandsons and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed cooking, mowing her lawn and taking care of the home. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Leonard and Rebecca Austin of White Creek; two grandsons, Andrew Austin and Adam Austin and his wife Meggi, all of White Creek; great grandchildren Raen, Alexis, Ashton and Carter Austin; in-laws Billy and Ann Austin, John Settanny and Betty Austin and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mary was predeceased by six brothers and sisters, John Murphy, Ruth Kipp, Julia Mattison, Phillip, William and Helen Murphy. The funeral will be held from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at 12:00 P.M. where the Liturgy of Christian Burial will be offered. Friends may call at St. John's on Wednesday from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the service. Burial will take place in the family lot at St. Marys Cemetery in Hoosick Falls, NY. Should friends desire memorial contributions in Mary E. Austin's memory may be made to St. John the Baptist Catholic Church through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
