Mary Cleary 1922-2011 POWNAL Mary Cleary, 88, of Pownal, Vt., formally of Stratford, Conn., died Saturday, February 19, 2011 in North Bennington, Vt. Born 1922 in Jacobs Creek, Pa. Daughter of the late John Lucza and Helen Lesko Lucza, and the wife of the late Richard F. Cleary. She has a son Richard Cleary and daughter-in-law, Debbie of Pownal, Vt. A daughter, Sharon Morrison and husband Jim of Raleigh, N.C. A special niece and nephew Sandra Roberts of Bethel, Conn., and Ronald Caton of Wallingford, Conn., and their spouses Norman and Pauline. Her sister Elizabeth Lovasic of Greenock, Pa. Grandson Joseph Cleary of Raleigh, NC. Granddaughters Rachel Kipp of Bennington, Vt., Erica Akers of Valatie, N.Y. Four great-grandchildren, Sydney, Hunter, Madison and Sophia, and several nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by brothers, John Lucas, Andrew Lucas and Charles Lucza. Sisters, Anna Caton, Margaret Arilotta and Helen Brkovich. Mary graduated school in Greenock, Pa., and later Beauty Culture School in Mckeesport, Pa., before moving to Connecticut in the mid 1940's. She settled in Stratford, Conn., upon her marriage to Richard to raise a family. 1n 1958 Mary became one of Jehovah's Witnesses, and symbolized her commitment by baptism. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall in Stratford, Conn., for 43 years before moving to Vermont in 2001. Her beliefs remained a focal point of her life until health conditions prevailed. Mary was quick to smile and had a good sense of humor. She enjoyed cake decorating, sewing, arts and crafts, loved all kinds of music, children and animals. Her spirit of feistiness was noted by all who knew her, she will certainly be missed. Perhaps the greatest tribute of a person's existence in life is the memories they leave behind within the hearts of those whose lives they touched. We Love You Mary, thanks for your love and sharing so much with us. We will miss you dearly. We would like to extend our warm appreciation to the staff at the Prospect Nursing Home for the excellent care they provided Mary with over these years. Private arrangements will be at the family's convenience. Funeral arrangements are in care of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington, VT.
