Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Mary Daigneault Morris were held from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003 where the liturgy of Christian death and burial was offered by the Rev. Vincent Coppola, c.s.c., associate pastor. Concelebrant at the funeral mass was the Rev. Jerome Day, pastor of St. Raphael’s Church in Manchester, N.H.

Organist was Donald McMahon and soloist was Monica Murray. Musical selections offered during service were “Amazing Grace,” “How Great Thou Art,” “Here I Am Lord” and the “Prayer of St. Francis.”

The pall that draped Mrs. Morris’ casket was placed by her sister and brother, Betty Hall and Donald Daigneault. A wooden cross was then placed on the casket by her brother. The scriptural readings were read by Laura Zink and Mary Reczek and the intersessional prayers were offered by Leonard Anzivino. The offertory gifts were presented by Olga Dunn and Joan Douglas and the eulogy was offered by Peter Hall, a nephew.

Acolytes were Gerald Amadon, Leonard Anzivino, Val Clifford and Paul Caron.

Bearers were five nephews, Peter Hall, Alex, Jeffrey, Gregory and Kyle Daigneault and an uncle, Martin Daigneault. Honorary bearers were five fellow classmates of Mrs. Morris from St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Pittsfield, Mass.: Dolores Chapman, Olga Dunn, June Carroll, Lucille Horton and Maureen Depew.

A prayer service at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home preceded the funeral mass.

Monday evening the wake service was offered by Father Coppola and a family prayer was offered by Father Day. Musical selections were sung by a group of Mary’s close friends from the Sweet Adelines: Caroline Burch, Carolyn Bobowiec, Daine Cowf and Peg O’Connor.

Burial took place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery with Father Day offering the committal prayers. Friends and family joined Father Day in singing “Auld Lang Syne” during the committal.

A reception followed the service at the church parish center.

Mrs. Morris, a resident of West Main Street, died Sept. 26, 2003 at Bennington Health and Rehabilitation.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home.
