BENNINGTON -- Mary E. Thompson, 95, a resident of Hospital Drive in Bennington, died Sunday, Aug. 21, 2005, at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington.

She was born in Manchester on July 6, 1910, the daughter of Edmund and Catherine (Wyman) Bushee and attended Manchester elementary schools. Mary worked for “Peggy,” Beckwith at Hildene for over 25 years.

She was a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Manchester, the Catholic Daughters, and a communicant of St. Paul’s Catholic Church in Manchester, where she was a member of Court Saint Rita since 1977.

She loved playing bingo, especially with her sister Dorothy, and enjoyed playing solitaire. She was a member of the Bowling Club at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation, where she also participated in coffee hour.

She married Charles E. Thompson on May 1, 1943. Mr. Thompson died in 1976. She is survived by two nieces; Shirley Guthridge and Katie Griffis of Manchester. She was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Squires, who died April 2004.

Graveside funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 24, 2005, at 11 a.m. in the family lot in Factory Point Cemetery in Manchester. There are no visiting hours.
