Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Mary Elaine (Connifey) Carpenter were held from Sacred Heart Saint Francis de Sales Church where the Mass of Resurrection was offered by a family friend the Rev. James Mackey who concelebrated the mass with the Rev. Michael Demasi. A prayer service at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home preceded the Mass.

The organist was Donald McMahon and the soloist was Monica Murray. Musical selections offered during the Mass were “On Eagles Wings,” “Here I Am Lord,” “Ave Maria” and “Let There Be Peace on Earth.”

The casket pall was placed by Mrs. Carpenter’s family John P., Sylvia, Jess and Sean Carpenter, Patricia, Elizabeth and Robert Bolduc and J. Theodore and Anne-Chantal Carpenter. A wooden cross was the placed on the casket by Mrs. Carpenter’s daughter Patricia.

The scriptural readings were offered by Mrs. Carpenter’s son, J. Theodore Carpenter and her daughter-in-law, Sylvia Carpenter. The Offertory Gifts were presented by Mrs. Carpenter’s grandchildren Jess and Sean Carpenter and Elizabeth Bolduc. Words of remembrance were offered by John Carpenter and Patricia Bolduc.

Serving as pall bearers were John Carpenter, J. Theodore Carpenter, Jess Carpenter, Sean Carpenter, Robert Bolduc, Sean MacLean, James Connifey and Timothy Connifey. Serving as honorary bearers were Darcy Davis, Roger Gram, Charles Holden, Raymond L’Heureux and Randolph MacLean. Serving as honorary bearers from the Court of Saint Andrew Catholic Daughters of America were Mary Morrissey, Catherine Murphy, Theresa Long, Geraldine Sausville, Louise Gauthier, Anna Becker, Dolly Pallo and Rita McCann. Serving as acolytes were Leonard Anzivino, Joseph Anton, Barth Vander Els and Ted Hajos.

The burial took place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery with Father Mackey offering the committal prayers. The service concluded with the musical selection “When Irish Eyes Are Smiling.” A reception followed the services at the Mount Anthony Country Club.

Sunday afternoon during the visitation the Catholic Daughters offered their prayer service at the funeral home. Father Mackey offered the Wake Service.

Mrs. Mary Elaine (Connifey) Carpenter, 82, widow of J. Russell Carpenter Jr., a longtime resident of Elm Street, Bennington, died Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2007, in Boston, following a brief illness.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
