Mary C. Gorman 1916-2012 HOOSICK FALLS, NY Mary C. Gorman 96, died peacefully on Tuesday May 15 at the Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation in Hoosick Falls. A native and longtime resident of Hoosick Falls, she was born on March 23, 1916. She attended the Hoosick Falls School system where she was an avid student and enjoyed playing basketball. Mary was the daughter of the late Frank and Angela (Gulli) Carelli. She was predeceased by her brothers Dominick, Joseph, James, John and her sister Angeline Carelli. She was the widow of William E. Gorman who she married on January 12, 1947. They were married for fifty-four years. Mary is survived by two sons, William P. Gorman and Dr. James F. Gorman and his wife Kate also a daughter Mary Angelia Azad. She is also was survived by her grandchildren Emma and Tedy Gorman, several nieces, nephews, grand nieces, grand nephews, a great niece, great nephews and sister in-law Evelyn P. Carelli. She worked at various businesses in the village and retired from Oak Industries in 1980. During the course of her lifetime, she was very active. Mary was vice-president and member of the former SMA Home & Association, Saint Mary's Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary and Catholic Daughters of America. As a member and past Vice -President of the Hoosick Falls Health Center Auxiliary, she was the weekly bingo caller. She was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church where she and her husband Bill were Eucharistic Ministers. Some of her hobbies included painting, stenciling, crocheting and sewing. But above all, Mary enjoyed time with her family. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be Friday May 18 at 11:30 a.m. from the Mahar Funeral Home, 43 Main Street in Hoosick Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12 noon from the Immaculate Conception Church on Main Street in Hoosick Falls. Burial will follow the mass at St. Mary's Cemetery in Hoosick Falls, Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 4 - 6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to either St. Mary's Academy or the Immaculate Conception Church through the funeral home.
