Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Funeral services for Mary K. Lyons were held from St. John the Baptist Church in North Bennington Friday, Oct. 3, 2003 where the liturgy of Christian death and burial was offered by the Rev. Edward Howard, S.J., pastor and the Rev. Michael Demasi, retired pastor.

Organist was Louise Gauthier and soloist was Mildred Pierce. Hymns offered during the funeral service were “Ave Maria,” “Here I Am Lord,” and “On Eagle’s Wings.” The song, “When Irish Eyes Are Similing,” was sung at the end of the funeral mass.

The pall that draped Mrs. Lyons’ casket was placed by her three grandsons, Michael, Nicholas and Benjamin Cichanowski and her son-in-law, Stanley Cichanowski, who also acted as pallbearers and gave the eulogy. A wooden cross was laid on the casket by Mrs. Lyons’ daughter, Kathy Cichanowski. The scriptural readings were offered by Michael and Kate Cichanowski and the offertory gifts were presented by Kathy and Ben Cichanowski. Roger Cole served as an acolyte.

A prayer service at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home preceded the funeral mass.

Burial took place in the family lot in St. Francis Cemetery in Pawtucket, R.I., with the Rev. Edward Pieroni offering the committal prayers.

Mrs. Lyons died Sept. 27, 2003 at Bennington Health and Rehabilitation.

Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
