Mary Miller Kagey 1915-2010 BENNINGTON Mary Miller Kagey, age 95, a former resident of Arlington, Vermont and more recently of the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington died on Sunday morning, September 19, 2010 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington. She was born in Baltimore, Md. on April 8, 1915 and was the daughter of the late Henry W. and Maude (Quirk) Baldwin. She received her education in Wilkinsburg (PA) Schools and graduated in 1936. Mary attended the Maryland Institute of Art and graduated with a degree in Clothing Design. Before moving to Vermont, Mary had resided in Baltimore, Md. and was instrumental in starting the art program in the Baltimore County Schools in the early 1940's. She also started the arts program and Burr and Burton in Manchester Village. Mary married Reverend Guy Kagey on June 1, 1943 in Boytheville, Arkansas. Reverend Kagey survives. Mary assisted her husband, Reverend Kagey at the various parishes that he had been assigned to; including parishes in Maryland, North Carolina, Arkansas, New York and Vermont. Mary is survived by her husband of sixty-three years, and many friends , including her Vermont Veterans Home family. FUNERAL HOME: The Burial Office for Mary will be celebrated on Thursday, September 23 at the Four Chaplains All Faiths Chapel at the Vermont Veterans Home in Bennington, Vt. at 11 a.m. with the Reverend Jon Mitchell, Rector of Zion Episcopal Church in Manchester Center, Vt., officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot in Evergreen Cemetery in Arlington. There are no calling hours scheduled. Memorial contributions may be made to the Vermont Veterans Home Residents' Activities Fund or the Zion Episcopal Church through the Mahar and Son Funeral Home 628 Main Street in Bennington, VT 05201.
