Mary A. Kent

1932 - 2013 MANCHESTER CENTER Mary A. Kent, 81, loving wife and mother and a resident of Beech Street, passed away July 15, 2013, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington.

Mary was born in Dorset on Jan. 14, 1932, the daughter of Edward and Hazel (Read) Moffit and attended local schools.

Mary worked for the Hale Company, Orvis and at Stratton Mountain before she started caregiving for many area residents for many years.

She was well known for her cooking expertise and enjoyed going to the casinos and playing slots. She enjoyed traveling, especially to Las Vegas, Florida, Plumb Island, and Maine. She loved bird watching and cherished times spent with her family.

She is survived by her husband Albert F. "Skee" Kent, Sr. of Manchester Center whom she married in Manchester on Oct. 18, 1952; sons, Albert F. "Skip" Kent, Jr. and his wife, Marsha, of Mt. Tabor, Ronald Kent and his significant other, Terry McLellan of Hampton, N.H., and Robert Kent and his significant other Laurie Burch of Comstock, N.Y.; daughters, Debra Colegrove and her husband, Harold, of Manchester, Donna Andersen and her husband, Robert, of Manchester and Kimberly Kent and her significant other, Donnie Hewes, of Pawlet; brothers, Eugene Moffit of Manchester, Pete Moffit of Wells and Edward Moffit of East Dorset; her sister, Alice Shattuck of Fauquay Varina, N. C.; grandchildren, Ben and Dan Colegrove, Luke and Matt Kent, Megan and Josh Hewes and Hannah Andersen; her great-grandchild, Noah Kent, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by many of her siblings.

FUNERAL NOTICE: The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, July 20, 2013 from 10:30 to 12 noon, followed by a celebration of Mary's life. Interment will be private.
