BENNINGTON -- Mary W. Tobin, 61, widow of Robert C. Tobin, a resident of Cross Street, died Wednesday afternoon Oct. 22, 2003 at the home of her daughter, Ann Marie Saunders, following a long illness.

Born in Belfast, Northern Ireland on Aug. 22, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Elizabeth (Donnelly) Watson. She received her education in the Belfast schools.

Mr. and Mrs. Tobin were married in Arlington Jan. 24, 1970. He died Feb. 15, 1994.

In earlier years Mrs. Tobin had been employed at Green Mountain Furniture in North Bennington and the Cutleaf Maple Motel in Arlington.

For the past 12 years she has been employed as a para-professional at Bennington Elementary School. Mrs. Tobin’s favorite past times, were reading and spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Ann Marie and Frank Saunders of Pownal; a daughter and her fiancé, Kelly Tobin and Patrick Morse of Arlington; six grandchildren, Korinne, McKenzie, Haley and Corbin Sanders of Pownal and Brianna and Kyra Grace Morse of Arlington; two sisters and brother-in-laws, Lillian and Martin Kerr and Ann and Dennis Rainey; and a brother, Thomas Watson, all of Belfast. Mrs. Tobin was pre-deceased by six brothers and sisters, David, Bobby, Emmanuel, Joseph, Theresa and Alice Watson.

The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Monday, Oct. 27, 2003 at 9:30 a.m. with a prayer and from Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church at 10 a.m. where the liturgy of Christian death and burial will be offered.

Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. when the family will be in attendance. The wake service will be offered Sunday afternoon.

Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.
