Maud Holden 1926-2008 BENNINGTON Maud Holden, 82, formerly of Canastota, N.Y., and Newport Richey, Fla., died peacefully Sunday, March 16, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Born Jan. 25, 1926 in Frankfurt, Germany, daughter of Franz Ferdnand and Meta Clara Charpion Stephan, she received her education in Germany and was schooled to become a physical therapist. Maud was courted by and subsequently married her beloved "Schatz", Walter Howard Holden, Jr., who predeceased her. Although legally blind, Maud was an avid reader, always kept up-to-date on current events, and enjoyed music. Maud and Walt spent their summers on Lake Oneida in Canastota, and their winters in Newport Richey. Maud most recently made her home at Equinox Terrace in Manchester Center, Vt. Maud leaves many nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Lawrence Wade; sisters-in-law Marie Holden and Cynthia Ferdinanson, and her dear friends, Ray Reed, Peggy Guttendorff, Mildred Ramsdale, and many other friends. FUNERAL NOTICE: A celebration of the life of Maud Holden will be held later in the spring.
