Maureen A. Coon

1965-2013 BENNINGTON Maureen A. Coon, 48, a resident of Furlong Road in Pownal, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, November 30, 2013 at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center. Maureen was born in Bennington on January 4, 1965, the daughter of David and Shirley (Leonard) Walker. She attended school in Bennington and graduated from Berlin, New York Central High School. Maureen was a member of the Pownal Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed listening to country music. Maureen cherished the times spent with her family and friends. She loved following her daughter Danielle playing sports in High School and enjoyed visiting her where she attended college at the University of Connecticut. She treasured time with her son Nicky, sharing with him his life goals and passions. Maureen is survived by her husband, Keith "Woody" Coon, of Pownal whom she married in Pownal on July 23, 1994; her daughter, Danielle Carlough of Pownal, son, Nicholas Coon of North Pownal; her mother, Shirley Carroll of Petersburg, N.Y.; step-daughter, Jennifer Coon of Arlington; sisters, Kathy Woodward and her husband Thomas of Pownal, Kelly Greene and her husband William, and Colleen Manchester and her husband Greg both of Petersburg, N.Y.; grandchildren, Taryn, James, Evan, and Ava; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her father, David Walker; step-father, William Carroll; brothers, Michael and James Walker; and her sister, Pamela Quidgeon. A time of visitation will be held Wednesday evening, December 4, 2013 from 5 to 7 p.m. at HANSON-WALBRIDGE SHEA FUNERAL HOME, 213 West Main Street, Bennington. A prayer service will take place at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be held Thursday, December 5, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Oak Hill Cemetery in Pownal.
