BENNINGTON -- Maurice Lionell Therriault, age 71, a resident of White Birches on Barney Road, died on Monday morning, Oct. 6, 2003 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation, following a brief illness.

He was born in North Pownal on Feb. 26, 1932, and was the son of Frank G. and Regina (Landoc) Therriault. He received his education in local schools. He entered the Army during the Korean War, serving from 1950 until1953 with the 97th engineers, then remained on the active duty until 1958.

On Oct. 17, 1978, he married the former Avis Adams, who survives. Mr. Therriault worked at the Benmont Paper Co. in Bennington, for 16 years and then went to work at Bijur Lubricating Co., until he retired March 28, 1997 after 30 years. His interests included his cars, and motorcycles.

Mr. Therriault was an avid fisherman and hunter, But his real enjoyment in life were his two grandsons.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Robert Therriault of Bennington and Darrin Therriault of Florida; a stepson, Wade Hill of Pownal; a daughter, Orinda Hatch of Bennington; a stepdaughter, Melissa Stratton of Bennington; a brother, George Therriault of Keni, Alaska; a sister, Aurora Carpenter of Melbourne, Fla.; his two grandsons, Joseph Hill and Bradley Hill; and nieces and nephews.

He is predeceased by three brothers, his infant twin, Marcel Therriault, Hillaire Therriault, and Alfred Therriault.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon, Oct. 9, at 2 p.m. at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, 213 W. Main St. in Bennington, with the Rev. Michael DeMasi officiating. Interment will take place privately. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 1 p.m. until the time of the services. Memorials in his honor may be made to the American Heart Association, Vermont Affiliate or the American Cancer Society, Vermont Affiliate, in care of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, P.O. Box 957, Bennington, VT 05201.
