Maurice Maxon Obituary
Maurice Maxon

1952 - 2014 CHERRY PLAIN - Maurice L. (Kipper) Maxon passed away unexpectedly on Sept. 28, 2014. He was born on May 13, 1952 in Cambridge, N.Y. A life-long resident of Cherry Plain, Kipper graduated from Berlin Central High School, Class of 1971. He was retired from the Rensselaer County Highway Department after 28 years of service. Kipper was caretaker of the Berlin Community Cemetery, an employee of Berlin Central School District and worked at the Berlin Transfer Station. Kipper was an active member of the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department for many years, and on the Corporate Board of directors. He was a past vice president of the Taconic Valley Soccer Club as well as coach, referee and fan. He volunteered with the Ryan and Courtney Motorcycle Run. If there was a need for a volunteer or a helping hand you could count on Kipper to be there with a smile and a wise crack. He enjoyed camping with his friends and family. He was an avid NASCAR fan (forever a fan of the #3), a YANKEE fan, and watching and feeding his pair of cardinals in the winter time. He will be missed by his family and friends. Predeceased by his parents, Maurice and Irma (Adams) Maxon and his daughter Darcy Mae. Kipper is survived by Debby, his wife of 36 years. His daughter, Shannon (Dan) Lyle, and his sons, Daryl (Carly), Jeremy (Rena), and Billy (Sherasia). His grandchildren, Darcie and Shelby Lyle, Chase and Cale, and Easton. His brothers and sisters, Bonita Maxon (Ron), Maureen Maxon, Bill (Carol) Maxon, Yolanda (Mike) D'Alessio, Jay Maxon and Priscilla (Sean) Maxon. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services will be held on Friday, Oct. 3, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the HALL AND HIGGINS FUNERAL HOME, 457, NY Route 43 in Stephentown, with a reception to follow at the Berlin Fire House.
