Maynard Walter Grout 1913 - 2009 EAST ARLINGTON Maynard Walter Grout, 95, of East Arlington, passed away Saturday morning, March 14, 2009, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center in Bennington. Mr. Grout was born March 31, 1913, in Brookfield, Vt., eldest child of Walter and Lucy Fullam Grout. He was married to Florence Bromley on Oct. 11, 1934, in Hampton, N.Y. He retired from Mack Molding after a 37 year career and then continued to work as a consultant. He was a member of the Vermont Association of Snow mobile Travelers (VAST) and the Arlington Snowmobile Club. He was a past master in the Masons, he was also Worshipfull Master and District Deputy of Red Mountain Lodge #63, Arlinton, Vt., He owned a farm in East Arlington and raised many different types of animals over the years. He spent many hours building and renovating houses and barns. He also enjoyed working on cars and trucks, especially body work. His formal education ended after the 8th grade due to being the eldest son and needing to help support his family. However he was a life-long learner, taking many seminars and always learning new skills. He leaves his daughter and son-in-law; Deronda and Robert Yost of Stonington, Conn., his daughter; Barbara Brophy of East Arlington and his daughter, Dianne Hosley of Arlington, six grandchildren; Jennifer Brophy, Kimberly Yost McLean, Scott Brophy, Jamie Hosley, Michael Hosley and Amanda Hosley Realmuto and 11 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Florence, an infant daughter Phyllis; his son-in-law Gary Brophy and granddaughters Karen Yost Moran and Andrea Brophy Coolidge. FUNERAL NOTICE: A service to celebrate the life of Maynard will be held on Wednesday, March 18th, at 11 a.m. at The Federated Church of East Arlington with the Rev. Kathleen Clark, pastor, officiating. A time of fellowship and refreshment will follow in the church's Bailey Hall. Interment will take place later in the spring in the family lot in the South Village Cemetery in East Dorset. Should friends desire, memorial gifts in memory of Mr. Grout may be made to the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center Surgical Renovation Project in care of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, P.O.
