Michael J. Cavalluzzi 1928-2012 NORTH BENNINGTON Michael J. Cavalluzzi, 83, a resident of North Bennington, died Monday, May 14, 2012 at Bennington Health and Rehabilitation following a brief illness. Born in Flushing, N.Y., June 12, 1928, he was the son of the late Carmine and Mary (Orsillo) Cavalluzzi. He received his education in the Flushing schools. Mike served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War where he achieved the rank of Master Sergeant and earned two Bronze Stars. For many years he was employed as an operating engineer by various construction firms in the Flushing area. He was also a longtime member of the Operating Engineers Union. An avid football fan, Mike had played quarterback in earlier years for the Flushing Eagles semi-pro team. Survivors include five daughters, Anne Jorgensen and her husband Richard and Michele Cavalluzzi, both of North Bennington, Barbara Higgins and her husband Alan, Eileen Cavalluzzi and partner Linda Rourk and Jean Cavalluzzi and partner Nathan Rowe, all of Bennington; four grandchildren, Erik, Lauren and Thomas Jorgensen and Maclain Campbell; two sisters, Belinda DeFilippis of Syosset, N.Y., and Mary Ann Cavalluzzi of Bennington; a niece and nephew, Frances Mary DeFilippis and Bart DeFilippis. Mr. Cavalluzzi was predeceased by a sister, Doris Smith. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place in the family lot in St. Johns Cemetery, North Bennington. Should friends desire memorial contributions in Michael J.
