Obituary Condolences

MANCHESTER -- Michael James Hawkins, 34, of Manchester passed away on Friday, August 20, 2004, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center due to complications from alcoholic pancreatitis.

He was born July 19, 1970 in Bennington, the son of John Belden Hawkins and Mary (Woods) Hawkins.

Michael graduated from Burr and Burton Seminary in 1988, and attended Champlain College.

Michael thoroughly enjoyed his work in retail management, both for Timberland and at the time of his death, Bass Shoes in Manchester.

He enjoyed raising his daughter, listening to and collecting music, especially his beloved Grateful Dead, sports, and snowboarding.

He is survived by his daughter, Sierra Dickie of Shaftsbury; his mother, of Manchester; his sister, Debbie Etzler and her husband and son of Clarendon; and his brother, Bill Hawkins and wife Marie of Alstead, N.H. He was predeceased by his father John.

There will be a time of remembrance and celebration of Michael’s life on Saturday, Aug. 28, at 1 p.m. at his mother’s home on Cass Terrace in Manchester Center.

Burial will take place on Monday, Aug. 30, at 10 a.m. in Lyndon Center Cemetery, Lyndon Center, with the Rev. Joan Vincent officiating.
