1951-2014 BENNINGTON Michael Howard Julius, age 63, a resident of Walt's Way in Bennington, died on Tuesday June 3, 2014 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, in Bennington following a long illness. He was born in Orwell, Vt. on April 26, 1951 and was the son of the late John and Violet Uber Julius. He received his education in local schools. He married the former Dawn Livingston on August 1, 1981 at St. Peter's Episcopal Church in Bennington. For fifteen years he was employed at Burgess Brothers Construction Company, and for several years he was a driver for Green Mountain Express Bus Services in Bennington. Michael was a member of the Bennington Fire Department for three years, and a past member of the Bennington Rural Fire Department Company 3, for 27 years. He loved collecting eagles, enjoyed NASCAR, and hunting. Besides his wife Dawn of Bennington, he is survived by two sons; Matthew Julius and his wife, Jessy of Bennington, and Michael T. Julius of Bennington; his two daughters, Amy Julius and her husband Ed of Bennington, and Amanda Julius of Bennington. He also leaves his mother-in-law, Nancy Livingston of Bennington; his companion Patches, and his special friend who stood by his side until the end, Henry Cross. Michael leaves his grandsons, Brodie, Trevet and Ryu Julius, and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is also survived by one brother, Paul Julius and his wife Christine of Rutland, Vt.; and two sisters, Ruby Joly and her husband, Bob of Florida, and Bertha King and her husband Kevin of Bennington. FUNERAL NOTICE: Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 6, at 2 p.m. at the MAHAR AND SON FUNERAL HOME, 628 Main St. Bennington, Vt. Interment will follow in Park Lawn Cemetery in Bennington. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, May 5, from 3 until 6 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the support of the family at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St. Bennington, VT 05201.
