Obituary Condolences

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- The burial office to celebrate the life of Michael Kernan was held on Tuesday morning, May 10, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Williamstown, with the Rev. Peter T. Elvin, rector of the church, officiating.

Musicians for the services were soloist Celia Twomey and keyboardist Barbara Kourajian, who accompanied Celia on both the piano and organ.

Special music for the services included “Aria” from Bachiannas Brasileiras No. 5, “God is My Shepherd,” “Earth and All Stars,” and “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee.” Scriptures were offered by Michael Kernan’s son Nicholas, and Michael’s wife, Margot. Remembrances and stories were offered by Michael’s daughter, Lisa Kernan, and his son, Nathan.

Ushers for the services were Mrs. Helen Vallencourt and Mr. Gordon McWilliams. A time of fellowship followed in the upper room at the church.

Interment will take place at the convenience of the family.

Mr. Michael J. Kernan, noted journalist and author, died on Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at his home in Bennington, Vt. following a long illness.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home in Bennington.
