BENNINGTON -- Michael Patrick Brady, 38, a resident of Beech Street, died unexpectedly Sunday morning, Jan. 18, 2004 at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.

He was born in Brooklyn, New York Sept. 5, 1965. He was the son of the late Martin F. Brady Sr. and the former Mary (McLee) Brady Lucas, who survives. He received his education in Bennington and was a graduate of Mount Anthony Union High School, class of 1984.

Following his graduation, Michael joined the United States Navy where he served from 1984-1988. He was a boatswain’s mate third class, serving on the USS Lewis B. Fuller. He was awarded a letter of commendation.

Michael was employed in the housekeeping department at the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center and later as an assistant chef at Carmody’s Restaurant in Bennington.

He was an active member of A.A. in Bennington. Michael was a very affectionate person and was well known for his hugs. He especially enjoyed spending time with his two daughters, Erin and Jessalyn.

Survivors include two daughters, Erin and Jessalyn Brady both of Bennington; his mother Mary Brady Lucas of Bennington; his stepfather, Peter Lucas of Bennington; four sisters Mary Ellen Longton of Saratoga, N.Y., Margaret Berard of Bennington, Kathleen Connors of Virginia Beach, Va. and Rosemary Brady of Bennington; three brothers, David J. Brady and Peter J Brady both of Bennington and James R. Brady of Brooklyn; several aunts including Sister Mary McLee S.S.J. of Rutland, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father Martin F. Brady Sr. and two brothers Martin F. Brady Jr. and Patrick M. Brady.

The funeral will be held from Harvest Christian Ministries, 945 East Main St., Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Robert Lebert officiating.

The burial with military honors will take place in the family lot in White Chapel Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.
