Michael Podrecca 1920 - 2009 BENNINGTON , VT Michael Podrecca, 89, formerly of Massachusetts, died peacefully at The Village at Fillmore Pond on Thursday, July 9, 2009. He was born in Gary, Indiana on Feb. 8, 1920. A veteran of World War II, he served with the Army with the 3rd Armored Division in the European Theatre and attained the rank of Sergeant. Mr. Podrecca had worked as an auto body technician throughout his life on the South Shore, where he was the founder of The South Shore Antique Auto Club. Prior to moving to Bennington he had lived in Readsboro, Holbrook and Abington, Mass. An avid Jazz musician, he played throughout the Bennington area and enjoyed entertaining the residents of Fillmore Pond. He leaves his sons, John Podrecca of Crossville, Tenn., and Joseph Podrecca of Sandwich, Mass.; a daughter Gail Podrecca of Woodstock, N.Y., sister Delores Brugioni of California and Indiana; grandchildren Byron Frayne and, Brandon Rist of Woodstock, Christopher Podrecca of Falmouth, Mass., Sean Podrecca of Crossville, Tyler Podrecca of Sandwich, currently serving in the Army and Zachary Podrecca of Sandwich currently serving in the Air Force and one great-granddaughter Bella Frayne. FUNERAL NOTICE: Services with full military honors will take place in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne on July 16, at 12:30 p.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the HANSON-WALBRIDGE FUNERAL HOME, 213 West Main Street, Bennington.
