WALLINGFORD -- Mrs. Mildred Edith Ott Lidstone, 94, affectionately known as “Buddy” and a resident of Lidstone Lane in Wallingford, died Wednesday evening, Jan. 12, 2005, at the Centers For Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington following a long illness. Mrs. Lidstone was born in Wainfleet, Ontario, Canada on Sept. 7,1910, the daughter of the late Albert Warren Ott and Fannie Edith Lee Ott.

Her family, originally Mennonites, relocated to the United States in the early 1900s, first settling in Manchester, where they found little land to farm. They moved to Wallingford where they found the land they needed to establish their farm.

Mrs. Lidstone was a graduate of Wallingford High School and had become a naturalized citizen of the United States. She was married to Ernest Edward Lidstone on April 22,1934. Mr. Lidstone died In 1998. She had served the town of Wallingford as town clerk and treasurer for more than 20 years, retiring in 1975, and was a member of the Wallingford Congregational Church, the Order of the Eastern Star and the Ladies Aid Society.

She leaves two sons, Edward Lidstone and his wife Judith of Wallingford, Philip Lidstone and his wife Winifred of Bennington; four grandchildren, Kimberly Bowen, Kelly Doaner, Keith Lidstone and Curtis Lidstone; three great-grandchildren, Matthew Doaner, Andrew Bowen and Elise Lidstone; a brother, Lawrence Ott of Rutland; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by nine brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Sunday, Jan. 16, at 2 p.m. at the Missionary Alliance Church in Bennington, with the Rev. Edwin Blue, pastor, officiating. Burial will take place in the family lot in the spring in the Danby (Scottsville) Cemetery. There are no calling hours.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts in memory of Mrs. Lidstone be made to the Bennington Area Hospice in care of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home, 213 West Main St., Bennington, VT 05201.
