Obituary Condolences

BENNINGTON -- Mildred S. “Millie” Volz, 90, a resident of Monument Avenue in Bennington, died on Friday morning, Dec. 10, 2004, at the Bennington Health and Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness.

She was born in Belvidere, Ill. on Dec. 25, 1913 and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dell Smith. She received her education in Belvidere and attended and graduated from the Frances Harrington School of Interior Design in Chicago. She was an interior designer in the Chicago area and in Ohio. Mrs. Volz had been employed with the Elder and Johnson Company in Ohio.

She is the widow of Mr. Arthur Volz. The couple had lived in Northern California for several years before moving to Bennington. The move here was a result of their great love of fly fishing and their desire to fish the Battenkill. She has resided in Bennington for 20 years. The Volzs were strong environmentalists and lovers of the out doors. She is survived by many loving caregivers and friends.

At Mrs. Volz’s request there will not be any services. The interment of her and her husband will take place in Northern California privately.

There are no calling hours scheduled. Memorials in her honor may be made to the Second Chance Animal Shelter through the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201.
