Obituary Condolences

DORSET -- Miriam H. Tifft, 87, a lifelong resident of Dorset, died July 9, 2005, at her home in Dorset.

She was born April 26, 1918, the daughter of Kimball Tifft and Grace Morey Tifft. She received her education at Burr and Burton and attended Middlebury College. She is survived by several cousins. She worked at the Dorset Inn for more than 30 years, and wrote articles for the Bennington Banner, the Manchester Journal and the Rutland Herald. She was also the author of the book, “My Dorset.”

Miriam was a very active lifelong member of her beloved Dorset Congregational Church. She was a wonderful seamstress, flower arranger and loved to entertain her many friends and family. She was a member of the historical society, Dorset Library and the Dorset Theater. She was especially fond of the Dorset Theater Festival and its staff and actors. She continually made new friends and cherished her old friends. She was kind, loving and incredibly thoughtful. Her friends spanned all generations.

Funeral services for Miriam will be held at the Congregational Church of Dorset and East Rupert on Wednesday, July 13, 2005, at 1 p.m. The Rev. Dr. James Gray will conduct the service. Interment will follow in the family lot in Maple Hill Cemetery in Dorset. There are no visiting hours. Memorial gifts may be made to the Dorset Community Sharing Project, c/o Brewster Funeral Service, P.O. Box 885, Manchester Center, VT 05255.
