Obituary Condolences

Myron H. Earley

1917 - 2010 BENNINGTON, VT Myron H. Earley, 93, resident of Elm Street in Bennington, passed away peacefully Monday evening April 12, 2010, at the Centers For Living and Rehabilitation, surrounded by his family.

Mr. Earley was born in Wells, NY, on Feb. 1, 1917, son of William P. and Jennie Stuart Earley. Mr. Earley received his early education in Wells, NY, graduating from Wells High School and completing a degree in business administration at Albany (New York) Business College in 1937. He began work at General Electric Company where he met and married Rita E. Foley of Malone, NY, a dietician at Samaritan Hospital in Troy, NY. After working as an accountant and a manager at the Wood Flaun Corporation in Hoosick Falls, he moved his family to Bennington in 1959 to work at Sibley Manufacturing Company, the current home of Hemmings Motor News on West Main Street. Mr. Earley worked in the tool and die industry for over 50 years and founded Sibley Development Corporation, a real estate and manufacturing business. He actively remained president until the time of his death.

Mr. Earley was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing in states from Maine to Idaho, and especially his beloved Adirondack mountains. In addition to his love of the woods and lore, he shared a passion for interesting automobiles, especially early Thunderbirds and Corvettes. He enjoyed fishing and boating at his "camp," and spending time with his family and friends. He had a particular interest in the history and lives of people in the New York Adirondacks; their genealogy and everyday challenges. He often purchased old homes to get the sense of recreating the picture of Adirondack life in the 1800-1900 period through the artifacts they left behind.

Mr. Earley leaves his wife, the former Rita E. Foley of Bennington, whom he married on Feb. 7, 1942, in Malone, NY; his son, Stephen Earley, and his wife, Clare, of Richmond; his daughter, Sharon Poupart, and her husband, Ron, of Southington, CT, and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother, Roy Earley, and his sister, Ellen Craig, both of Wells, NY.

The family gratefully acknowledges the devotion, wit and wisdom of caregiver, Shelia Hogan Harrington; the expert care of Dr. John O'Loughlin of the Leahy Clinic; the care and friendship of Dr. Mike Romac of the Village Primary Care in Hoosick Falls; and the compasionate care of hospitalist Dr. James Poole of the Southern Vermont Medical Center.
