BENNINGTON -- Nancy Kay Harris Mather, 77, of Bennington, died peacefully Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born in Danville, Va., Jan. 13, 1930. She was the daughter of the late Garland Reynolds Harris and Margaret L. (Hall) Harris. She received her education in Maryland and was a graduate of Prospect Park High School in Baltimore. She later attended the University of Maryland. Nancy married Charles Hewitt Mather Sept. 6, 1952, in Baltimore.

Nancy, in addition to being a homemaker, was the administrator to the Cooper Kelley Scholarship Fund for several years. She enjoyed arts and crafts and Bridge. Nancy enjoyed spending her summers at Brennan’s Bay in Lake Ontario and winters in Punta Gordon, Fla. She was devoted to her family and was proud to share in their many accomplishments.

Survivors include her husband, Charles H. “Chuck” Mather, of Bennington; her children, Charles H. “Chip” Mather Jr., and his wife, Mary Jean of Shady Side, Md., Marjorie Mather of Stuart, Fla., John Mather of New York City, Robert Mather and his wife, Margaret of Denver, Colo., and Scott Mather of Bennington; four grandchildren, Kate and Sarah Mather of Shady Side, Md., and Brian and Erin Mather of Denver, Colo.; a sister Linda Carol Thompson and her husband, Gene, of Dallas, Texas; a brother-in-law, John Fisher of Annapolis, Md., and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was pre-deceased by a sister, Margaret Kristen Fisher.

The funeral will be held from the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Thursday, Aug., 30, 2007, at 11 a.m.

The burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Mahar and Son Funeral Home on Wednesday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.

If friends desire, contributions in memory of Nancy Kay Harris Mather may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice through the offices of the Mahar and Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, VT 05201.

Following the services a reception for family and friends will be held at the Mount Anthony Country Club.
