1912 - 2009 Obituary Condolences
BENNINGTON - Natalina Z. Ransom, 96, widow of Edward R. Ransom, a longtime resident of Pleasant Street, died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009 at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation following a long illness.
Born In Venice, Italy on Dec. 25, 1912 she was the daughter of the late Victorio and Luisa Scuitto Zucchi.
She received her education in the schools of Milano, Italy.
Mr. and Mrs. Ransom were married, in Milano, on Nov. 3, 1932. Mr. Ransom died Mar. 22, 1993.
For many years Mrs. Ransom was employed at the former E.L. Nichols store in Bennington.
Mrs. Ransom was a devout member of St. Peters Episcopal Church and served for many years as a volunteer Gray Lady at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center.
She enjoyed playing bridge, volunteering in the community and traveling throughout Europe.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Michael Taylor; and a son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Anne Ransom, all of Shaftsbury; seven grandchildren, Edward A. Ransom, Bradley Ransom, Marcy Martinka, Kimberly Ransom, Jamie Ransom, Nicholas and Ian Taylor; three great-grandchildren, Brandon Mattison, Tracey Mattison, and Austin Martinka; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Ransom was predeceased by two sisters, Maria Martinengo and Virginia Hackett.
FUNERAL NOTICE: The funeral will be held from St. Peters Episcopal Church in Bennington on Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, at 1 p.m. where the Burial Office with Holy Eucharist will be offered by Rev. Dr. Anita Shell Lambert, Rector.
Friends may call at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m.
Burial will take place in the family lot in the Bennington Centre Cemetery, Old Bennington.
Should friends desire memorial contributions may be made to either the Second Chance Animal Shelter or the Vermont Association for the Blind through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main Street, Bennington, VT 05201.
