MOUNT TABOR -- Nelson “Pic” Nichols, 85, a lifelong resident of Mount Tabor, died suddenly on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2004 at the Rutland Regional Medical Center. He was born in Mount Tabor April 12, 1918, the son of Nelson and Florence (Davison) Nichols. He attended local schools and graduated from Burr & Burton Seminary class of 1937.

Pic owned and operated a farm in Middlebury for 15 years, then worked at G.E. in Rutland for 20 years until he retired in 1980. He was one of the original founders of the Lions Club in Middlebury. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Sara (Dugan) Nichols. Three sons: Edwin, Gene and Carl. His daughter Sarah and stepsons Peter and Mark Tucci.

A private graveside service will be held in the spring in the Danby Cemetery. There are to be no calling hours. For those who wish memorial gifts may be made to the Manchester Rescue Squad C/O Brewster Funeral Service, P.O. Box 885, Manchester, VT 05255.
